Additional Director General KR Nautiyal, PTM, TM has served the organisation in various assignments over the past 37 years and is presently appointed as the Additional Director General Indian Coast Guard at Delhi.
 

The flag officer is an alumnus of US Naval War College, New Port, Rhode Island and completed the US Naval Staff Course with distinguished grading. He is also an Alumnus of the US Coast Guard Academy, York Town having attended the Search and Rescue and Port Operations Department Course. The flag officer holds a Master's Degree in Defence & Strategic Studies from the University of Madras, a Master of Business Administration in Human Resource Management, Post Graduate Degrees in Disaster Management and Journalism & Mass Communication besides a Diploma in NGO Management and presently, the flag officer is pursuing his Phd in anthropology.
 

Additional Director General KR Nautiyal has held several key appointments afloat and ashore. Prominent among his sea appointments include command of Inshore Patrol Vessel 'Naiki Devi', Offshore Patrol Vessel 'Varad' and Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel 'Sagar'. Indian Coast Guard Ship Naiki Devi and Sagar were both adjudged as "Best Coast Guard Unit" by the Director General Coast Guard during his command tenure.
 

promotion to the flag rank, he was appointed as Deputy Director General (Operational & Coastal Security) at Coast Guard Headquarters followed by Commander Coast Guard Region (North East) and Commander Coast Guard Region (West). The officer also completed the tenure of Commander Coast Guard Region (Andaman & Nicobar) previously. The flag officer is the only serving Coast Guard officer who has successfully completed command of three Coast Guard regions. Prior to the present appointment as Additional Director General Indian Coast Guard, the Flag Officer on his promotion to the rank of Addl DG, was appointed as Coast Guard Commander (Eastern Seaboard) at Visakhapatnam.
 

The flag officer is also recipient of President’s Tatrakshak Medal for distinguished service, Tatrakshak Medal for meritorious service.
